Meet Ange

This week, we chatted with Ange, to learn more about her career aspirations and why she joined the African Accounting Academy. Ange is part of our Rwanda May 2019 Cohort, and is on track to complete the African Accounting Academy course by 10 August 2019.

Haystack: Which university are you attending and what is your major?

Ange: I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree of science in accounting at the University of Rwanda which I expect to complete at the end of June 2019.

Haystack: Where are you working now and what is your role?

Ange: I do not have a job currently. I am just working hard to complete my studies on time and with excellent results.

Haystack: How do you think the African Accounting Academy will impact your future day-to-day work?

Ange: This course will have a great impact on my first job because it contains all of the practical knowledge needed by every accountant.

Haystack: Tell us about the AAA program. What have you enjoyed about it so far?

Ange: The African Accounting Academy makes me realise that I need to know how practically, I am going to use accounting in my daily work. It has made me understand that even though I have learned most of the theory that is used in accounting, I also need to know how to perform my daily work and understand my duties and responsibility at work in a professional way. I think it will make a transition to a professional job very smooth. Lastly it helped me to develop confidence and capability as a professional accountant.

Haystack: What are your career goals?

Ange: I want to become a financial analyst with a professional certified accounting certificate.

Haystack: Tell us something interesting about yourself.

Ange: I am a peace activist and a committed Christian. I am also passionate about financial advisory and business. I like to spend time reading books related to finance and how to influence people to be successful in their business. Some of my favorites are Girlboss by Sofia Amoruso and Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.

Haystack: What are your hobbies outside work and studying?

Ange: I love travelling and adventure, I like learning new things and being challenged by attending different mind opening youth meetings and festivals. I also love browsing the internet!
