This week, we chatted with Fidele, to learn more about his career aspirations and why he joined the African Accounting Academy.
Haystack: What university did you attend and what was your major?
Fidele: I did my university studies at Kigali Independent University (K.I.U.), Gisenyi campus. I studied accounting and classified as second class upper division (distinction).
Haystack: Congratulations Fidele, very impressive! Where are you working now and what is your role?
Fidele: I am a credit analyst in micro-finance at RIM Ltd. (Réseau Interdiocésain de Microfinance).
My responsibilities are:
- Analyse profitability of our clients’ projects
- Measure and analyse credit risk
- Register collateral of clients with R.D.B.
- Ensure that rules and regulations that govern RIM loans are followed
- Loan recovery
Haystack: How has the African Accounting Academy impacted your day-to-day work?
Fidele: AAA has sharpened my knowledge in accounting, and other fields related to finance and management. This course has also boosted up my abilities to measure risk in my day-to-day work.
Haystack: Tell us about the AAA program. What have you enjoyed about it so far?
Fidele: AAA is a professional course that sharpens students’ knowledge in accounting and is great for students who are interested in becoming good accountants. I have enjoyed the whole course, but especially the modules on Excel and QuickBooks Online. I also enjoyed how well the course was prepared.
Haystack: What are your career goals?
Fidele: My career goal is to become a professional accountant with an ability to know right from wrong and to always display integrity.
Haystack: Tell us something interesting about yourself.
Fidele: I have an influential personality and team work spirit. I have the ability to multi-task, stay organized and to adjust to different work conditions in a fast and timely way.
Haystack: What are your hobbies outside work and studying?
Fidele: Outside of work and studying, I really like visiting new places.
