This week, we chatted with Marcel, who recently graduated from the African Accounting Academy, as part of our May 2019 Cohort for Rwandan students. We talked about his career goals, how he enjoyed the African Accounting Academy and some of his hobbies outside of work and studying.
Haystack: What university did you attend?
Marcel: I have a Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship from the University of Rwanda.
Haystack: Where you working now and what are is your role?
Marcel: Right now, I am working as an Accountant in the Rutare Health Center in Gicumbi.
Haystack: How do you think the African Accounting Academy will impact your future day-to-day work?
Marcel: I completed the African Accounting Academy on 21 July 2019. My daily work activities have been impacted because I’ve mastered some new skills, like excel, recording tricky transactions and how to use QuickBooks Online. I have also updated my fundamental accounting skills through the first three modules of the African Accounting Academy, that focus on fundamentals.
Haystack: What did you enjoy most about the African Accounting Academy?
Marcel: I really appreciated how the AAA program was organized and its emphasis on all areas of accounting and the ways to put the content into my work.
Haystack: What are your career goals?
Marcel: My short-term goal is to get job in reputed company where I can utilize my skills and continue to improve on my skills.
Haystack: What are your hobbies outside work and studying?
Marcel: I enjoy physical activities and spending time with my family, including my mother.
